Are you aware that Stephen Hawking had 3 children? <Jane Hawking (née Wilde), Hawking's first wife, cared for him until 1991 when the couple separated, reportedly because of the pressures of fame and his increasing disability. They had three children: Robert, Lucy, and Timothy. >

Women are not as simplistic as you suggest: >OTOH... we'd never have had a Stephen Hawking would we ?> Yes we would.

A woman I know here is pregnant with a child they know has a 50:50 chance of stomach cancer [due to genetic inheritance]. The father has had his stomach removed [he's in his early 30s]. She has obviously decided that the benefits outweigh the risks. They tried genetic engineering but it wasn't going so well. So they have gone with the usual pain and suffering risks of red in tooth and claw nature. He's a top doctor so it's not through ignorance they are acting. She is obviously comfortable with her eugenics decisions.
