You need to be well read to understand how that son of a bitch Adam messed it up for everybody. Trees have fruits. Some fruits make you tall; Some turn you into rocks; Some make you abhor nudity; Some destroy immortality; Some fruits have worms. Hell Gives Up The Wicked Dead The Bible teaches, in Revelation 20:13-17, that hell will be emptied of its contents, who will then stand before God in judgment. Once having given up their dead, death and hell are cast into the Lake of Fire, evidently for the purpose of destruction. The unrighteous dead are not put back into hell, but are cast into the Lake of Fire along with death, hell, the dragon, the beast and the false prophet. It is not necessary to understand all of the symbolism and just exactly what all is being portrayed to see that a major change—with respect to hell and the grave where the dead are, and the place of the unrighteous dead— takes place at and after the final judgment. I Corinthians 15:26 says that the second coming of Christ and the events that comprise the final judgment will destroy death. Evidently this Revelation passage means to tell us that hell is destroyed too, along with the devil, every evil angel, unrighteous men and every evil work (the context of Revelation 20:13-17 is works). Judgment a Part of Love, Mercy and Redemption When the redemptive processes of God in Christ Jesus have completed their outworking in this world (culminating at the Resurrection and the Judgment) every evil being and every evil thing will have been eliminated from existence forever. There will never, throughout all the ages of eternity, be any remembrance of evil again forever. There will be no more sin, death, sickness, pain, crying, loneliness or any other inferior thing. All of those former things have passed away. All that God has done for man, from before the world was created, was for this purpose. God saw the wicked before He ever created them. He has given them their opportunity to live on this earth, to have being and to know life such as it has been. But they have forfeited their right to go on living. Time and history is real and God reacts to it (infralapsarianism), but in His supralapsarian plan for the ages, He has control over all. God is not a fiend whose vengeance is unsatiable. He is not going to be a prison keeper who presides eternally over the torture of the damned. He is not going to be haunted forever by the terrified, agonized screams of those who will go on being tortured forever with no hope of relief. Nor did God set in motion a force, when he made man, that he cannot control or destroy. God is God, not a Dr. Frankenstein who is the helpless victim of his own creative invention and mistake. He promised man, when He made him, that he would take from him the life that He gave man, in the day that man would sin (God offered man the chance to obtain immortality, but man did not take it, and because of the Fall it was taken away). For those who do not find redemption in Christ, that is exactly what He will do.
