PGILD/MERCED theory:

1. HP/Intel has been partnering with UTEK on the development of PGILD for 3.5years. PGILD will be used predominantly for .18u or below with some .25u work. Either HP/Intel or Motorola (the third partner) is going to take delivery of the first machine Q1 or early Q2 1998.

2. HP has been partnering with Intel on the development of MERCED. Although first conceived at .25u, Merced will be done at .18u.

3. Intel expects to roll out MERCED in 1999 the same year UTEK is supposed to start rolling out PGILD units in large quantity with the aim to do 400m - 600m in revenue by the end of 2000 or the equivalent of 93 to 140 units annually at $4.3m ASP.

4. UTEK's PGILD estimates have been all over the map. Perhaps the volatility of projected revenues from PGILD is due to the fact that there is currently one predominant buyer for PGILD lined up and that buyer's estimates of what they will need and when in terms of PGILD has caused UTEK's revenue projections for PGILD to swing wildly.

Could that predominant buyer of PGILD be Intel?
