That's a really great post that shows just how disingenuous the "big oil subsidy" claims are.

If they eliminate expensing IDC they damned well ought to ban MSFT from deducting software development costs as R&D. It is the same damned thing; as the guy pointed out, you're really talking about business expense deductions that are going to be available anyway; it is just a question of timing.

And it has been known for years that accelerated deductions (eg, for depreciation) is one of the most effective means of encouraging businesses to behave in a way that is beneficial for the economy.

Thanks. LIFO acct is the biggest "subsidy". It is, of course, not unique to the oil industry.
