Not a single word about the biggest portion of the pie: defense spending. A sincere spending cut would start with cutting that piece of the pie that takes up the most space. More so because to spend that much over defense with the USSR gone does not make sense any more. On the contrary the enemy is now in the economic area with China and India, with their good education system, industrious workforce and the mighty force of their Govt. behind them. And America is headed in the right opposite direction. Cutting spending is an economic issue and to tackle that we need a transformational change on how we prepare our budgets. We need drastic cuts in Defense while retaining the budget for Defense R&D.
