<<In years of jousting with the Robin Hoods of our day this is the critical issue. The zero sum gang will demonize us as evil and selfish - all the while condemning millions to a life of poverty.

The issue is not who cares - but how to care best. I do not see why this is so difficult but it is. Half of me thinks that the zero sum argument is simply political to fool the ignorant for their votes as many who make the argument cannot be so stupid as to believe it.>>

I don't think you are evil or selfish, I think you do not understand the issues. You seem to have no insight as to what the big picture is. You live in a tiny little dogmatic world where complexity totally escapes you. And you defend that dogma with every ounce of your being, against all attacks, by science or anyone else. YOU are open to no new ideas. And you call people who question things loony.

You seem incapable of looking at humans in relation to their society. There is no god given reason why deferred interest or long term capital gains should be taxed at half our rate. You act like it was sent down by Moses.

You act like it is an axiom of a civilized democracy. You don't have that equation worked out in your head. You question almost nothing. My guess is, someone put you on rails, and you damn well are going to stay on those rails.

Buffet said it perfectly in this weeks time:

"The market rewards me outandishly, but that does not mean I am any more deserving of the good life (in our society-me) than a doctor or teacher or military person."

He also said half seriously: "I would like to see private schools banned, so the rich would have to invest in K-12.
