The antiseptic executions we have now are bizarre in their own right for the total lack of sentiment involved. But I am a literal agnostic on the death penalty, I don't mind using it on real baddies and I wouldn't mind if it were banned forever, because no one has ever proved the slightest deterrent factor from it.

Crime is about demographics and little else.

Too many people would love public hangings. I can even imagine corporate sponsors stepping up to underwrite television coverage.
