TopCat, > His comment was simply that it was "too big a jump."

That was said later, and it was his attempt at backtracking.

Besides, Gingrich later on made proposals, such as allowing younger workers to opt out of SS, which is very similar to Paul Ryan's Medicare proposal.

This link is spot-on. He is exaggerating small differences:

I care not for "nuancing" Gingrich's words, since it's clear to me that he'll say anything and not hold himself accountable.

The LA Times said he slammed Ryan's plan. That wasn't slam but you apparently bought the LA Time's characterization.....

Again.....Tenchu will grasp on to anything without attempting to understand context. He did it in the claim of Newt attacking Reagan which in context has been shown to be false. Same here on the Ryan plan. Newt's point that whatever plan gets put forward , it better have the full understanding and support of the American people for it to succeed is smart. Now... I will say that, at times, Newt could explain himself in better, clearer terms.

For the record........if I had a choice in the primaries......I'd vote for Santorum enthusiastically if he had a reasonable chance to win on primary day. I'd vote for Newt enthusiastically as well if it was clear Santorum could not win. I would not vote for Romney or Paul. However, if Romney got the nomination, I would support him in every way in the general election.

It seems you are now parroting the LA Times....because you don't like Gingrich. I expect that from some posters on this thread....but not you.

Anyone who would vote for Obama in the general election as a protest against Newt...... is NOT a conservative.......does NOT comprehend the consequences of a second Obama term...........and IS exactly what I characterize him to be.......a Dumbfuck.

For people other than Tenchu who might want to better understand where Newt is really at.......go here
