Florida Live: Poll Position... Romney In A Rout?

Good news for Mitt Romney in Florida a day before the big primary: According to a new Suffolk University/7NEWS (WSVN-Miami) poll of likely Republican primary voters here, he leads Newt Gingrich 47% to 27%. Rick Santorum came in at 12%, Ron Paul was in fourth with 9% and 5% remained undecided.

“It is almost certain that Mitt Romney will top his 39% showing in New Hampshire,” said Suffolk's David Paleologos. “This poll also tells us that Romney could reverse and exceed Newt Gingrich’s percentage and margin in South Carolina – and do it in Gingrich’s backyard.”

Early voters matter: Romney led Gingrich 55% to 24% among voters who have already cast their ballots. And Romney was routing Gingrich, 56% to 31%, among Latino voters.
