I'm sure that if you sent a check to, say, a bank, to pay a mortgage payment, the bank would expect you to take a little more interest than that in making sure the money eventually arrived at its destination. They really wouldn't buy an excuse like "I mailed it and it's not my fault if it doesn't arrive."

It's the payee's responsibility to ensure a debt gets paid off.

But I'm sure you know that, and have no intention of doing anything other than the honorable thing.
