I think a "fuck the poor" platform might actually do quite well with some political factions in the US. Nobody who isn't poor ever expects to become poor, but most people who aren't rich think they may one day be rich.

I agree, he was using code to the right wingers who think the poor are lazy and think they want government welfare repealed and have no heart.
