The people most terrified of death, according to statistics, are religious people. Folks who need religion are probably, by definition, the fearful. Brave people have no need of imaginary friends to hold their hands.

I don't know if the faithful fear death because they are faithful, or if they are religious because they fear death- and to be honest, I don't care. What I do know is that many studies have shows the religious are fearful of death. And that's just for starters. The religious also fear change- among other things (and they also seem to be somewhat afraid of themselves, and what they might *do* without religion.)

I agree with Epicurus- whose philosophy I really like:

Science will eventually free people of the burden of their imaginary friends. And may that day come soon.
