I talked to Mike yesterday. His computer is still in the compUSA. He mentioned that there is a power supply problem. I recommanded him to take it back to CompaqWork in Houston.

bug, the IBM box will sell but I don't know if they will make as much money as cpq does on theirs.
cpq inventory turns on their low cost pc is 100x a yr.
Most the modems are 56k..
if you get a 33.3 modem you can upgrade the cpq modem to 56k via a download of website.
IBM has a secret going now...
since most I/S directors are opting to buy p166's and p200's instead of p266 etc for business. then dealers are having trouble having the right pc in stk.
So, IBM will soon do a BTO program and have dealer put on the processer chip last.
This way they stk std. units and pop the chip in and it's finished.
Look for hp to do this chip placement too.
Cpq will do it later on.

The business pc divsion had to take over the IBM consumer pc becasue they just were getting creamed....
I think IBM does better, but don't know how much better.
