They debated these words, and the various Christians in the room tried hard to get their personal Theocracy-State.

The founders consciously and wisely did not use the words Christian or Jesus the U.S. Constitution or Declaration. The farthest they went was "Nature's God." And the meaningless appeal to the "Supreme Judge of the World" (again, conspicuously avoiding terms like "Lord" or "God" or "Christ.") which could also be interpreted a gazillion conflicting ways.

Separate from any personal beliefs in a Deity (or not) the founders like Paine and Jefferson were highly critical of the Church and what had been done in the name of Jesus, and were passionate about the need to keep religion separate from government despite what the historical revisionists like Glenn Beck and Michele Bachmann preach.

The word "Creator" leaves it open to define. I'm convinced that the majority of the founders would have fought the exclusionary words "In God We Trust" to became a virtual pledge to slap atheism, socialism or other isms that FREEDOM rang in.

So for me anyway, I have minimal problem with the word ""creator.". Richard Dawkins or Steven Hawkings might see the creator as a natural event. A native American, and Astrologer, a Hindu and a Mormon might see something entirely different. A "creative" thinker might theorize the creator is in the dark matter and in the future and that time is merely how our brains explain this reality. Their opinion of creators doesn't matter to me so long as they respect the laws and do their best to give more than they take from their community and their planet.
