This reminded me of the absolute epitomy of this statement :
Many years ago Winston Churchill had a constant war of words with Lady Astor, who served for the opposition.
On one occassion she said to him in parliment
"If you were my husband, I would put poison in your soup"
To which he replied
"And if you were my wife I would drink it"
