"Weak people chase miracles and surrender their autonomy because they're too lazy to think and too afraid of the truth." So they search around for a "claim" that makes them feel a bit better, and that becomes what they know as "truth" and so they "believe" it. And the sicker they are, the more self-acclaim will attach to their "truth" which generally begins with being "Chosen People" with magical protection and backing. People with a higher morality (but still somewhat unsound) will choose a somewhat more innocent fraud such as Eckankar where they can dabble in the occult without feeling the need to steal land or form governments or dictate dress and behaviour of others. I recommend that people (who simply MUST get under someone's umbrella, where they feel safe) read some Buddhism or Eckankar--or anything where donkeys don't talk and there are no infidels or "enemies" of their peculiarities or conceits.. en.wikipedia.org
