Obama wants to control every little move, idea, philosophy that we in the Western World value. All a person has to do is look at the address he gave yesterday to three thousand people at the National Prayer Breakfast where he quoted Luke 12:48: ... 'for unto to whom much is given, much shall be requir ed', insinuating that Jesus Christ himself would believe that Obama's redistribution of wealth policies were 'spiritually sound'. When I watched a partial video of that speech yesterday afternoon I had to walk away from the television. Having taught the adult Sunday School class at our church for about fifteen years, I recalled the foremost admonition that had been stressed to all teachers of the adult classes during the almost two-hundred year history of our church: 'Never use the interpretation of scripture to further your own personal beliefs. Always educate with scripture in accordance the the church's interpretation of The Word. To the degree that you are bending the meaning of scripture to your own wishes, you are declaring yourself to be an arbiter of Christ's teachings.' Barack Obama took the above verse of scripture completely out of context in order to assert that none other than Jesus Christ is in his corner. No small feat there. And no no end to his unbridled arrogance. In addition to despising his motives and methods, I have major problems with two aspects of his statement: (1) for unto whom much is given ... he was referring, as always, to 'the rich' (whose wealth must be confiscated, according to him, and apparently also to Christ). The large majority of 'the rich' in this country were given little or nothing. Their wealth resulted from successful entrepreneurship, successful risk, and forward-looking business vision. (2) ... much shall be required . When delivering this talk in Luke, surrounded by the telling of many parables, Christ was discussing many of the blessings bestowed upon man by God (for unto whom much is given ... ) and advising us that, in part because of those blessings, God expects much in return. Government, or any even veiled reference to government, is found nowhere in this particular portion of Christ's teaching -- unless the teacher is covertly equating God with government . Obama nowhere informs us exactly who will be requiring us to submit to requirements. But, since he is always using this and other similar phrases to promote his redistribution of wealth schemes, it is obvious that his interpretation of Luke 12:48 is: Because the wealthy have been given so much, it is required of them (by their 'Christian' God, and His earthly representatives, the federal government) that they turn over to the government much of that wealth so that the government can decide where it can be put to better use. One of the more common definitions of blasphemy is the act of claiming the attributes of deity . I suspect that Obama's politically opportunist behavior, while invoking the name of Christ as an ally during yesterday's prayer breakfast, skirted that definition ... at the very least.
