Can't think of any other explanation other than that it's pretty standard operating procedure for the PPT to move particular markets in their desired direction on major news release days. Bernanke said inflation is non existent - sell a few thousand GC and SI futures contract at the opportune time - and well, how can anyone argue that inflation is already rampant?

Probably sounds like a lame excuse but historical price action on major news days bears this out. Nearly impossible to predict - now the question is whether they have sufficient fire power to sustain the move. Unfortunately no way to predict that either ....
