Mao was nothing but a tin horn dictator and hard on China, but they were coming out of a feudal system with way too many people. We have been lucky with our democracy. We almost lost it seveal times, but always seemed to get the right hero at the right time. Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, FDR, JFK. we have been a lucky nation. But we have been going backward for 30 years now. Engineered by the very rich we have moved relentlessly toward a plutocracy to where today we have the worst income disparity of any large nation and only above Rawanda, but below Uganda. The rich spend billions to buy congress people and hire obbyists as theri enforcers to set tax policy to benefit themselves . Often the riches lobbyists atually write the legislation. And the Republicans defend every single thing the rich want. The rich are taking advantage of us and the right wing middle class is carrying their water. And it boggles the mind as to why are doing that?
