I respectfully disagree with you Jim. Our constitution, literally, puts power in the states and the people MO. It is only when we get a president in office who oversteps his (her) constitutional authority, and a congress too weak , or is just unwilling , to put him (her) in their rightful place, that we have potential for dictatorial/authoritarian rule.

When we get a president who does everything by 'decree' and congress doesn't haul him (her) in, then we have problems. As long as every branch functions as designed and intended, we have a wonderfully efficient system of checks and balances.

At least, that's how I see it. I welcome information which would correct my opinion, if faulty.
