Trump has now promised to drop the whole notion of running as an independent for the presidency if Romney ends up being the Republican nominee. But having the association between the two businessmen may not be working in Romney’s favor. RELATED: Ron Paul Jabs Trump Endorsement: ‘Why Would Anyone Care?’ A poll released by Facebook and POLITICO over the weekend reaffirms what previous polls have told us already: having Donald Trump’s name attached to your candidacy can only do more harm than good. Only 9.6 percent of those polled said they thought Trump’s association with Romney gave them a positive view of the candidate, compared to 41.4 percent saying it gave them a negative view. 49 percent said it didn’t matter either way to them, but the net difference between the positives and negatives is definitely significant. The poll surveyed over 1000 Nevada Republican voters on Facebook. The poll was taken before the Nevada race was decided, so the effect of Trump’s endorsement on Romney’s double-digit victory last night is unclear.
