Yes, Mitt needs Newt and Mitt needs the moderate-conservative base of the Republican Party. Without that base I do not believe that Mitt can win if he is the nominee..

Mitt has some of the known names in politics in the Republican party--------it is the unknown names that will matter in this General Election in 2012, those who swing votes in their local area.

Wasn't it Ronald Reagan who noted that all politics is local?

The Conservative base are those people represented by Gingrich, Santorum and Paul.
