I am talking about the entire 3,000 year old culture and where they are today. They are evolving toward democracy just like the west did. The west had Hitler for gods sake, so we all have a ways to go for a civilized society. Asia has a rich intelligent history and has a smart philosophical tradition to build on. Buddhism, Taoism and Confuscious and others, are very enlightened and smart philosophies. They form the foundation which is helping them evolve. Cripes, have you noticed anything that's gone on in China since WW2? The Chicoms did their absolute best purging all those beliefs from their society..... The remains the civilization you're speaking of resides on Taiwan not mainland China. You mention they're moving towards democracy....... You think they're doing that because they want to? The Chicoms are being forced into it...... As people get wealthier they demand more freedom.... Normally this would set off a wave of purges but the Chicoms appreciate that their economy is smoking like no other time in their history and a purge would only get in the way.
