There would be no society or country without the public sector. Not true, and also there would be no public sector without the private sector. The public sector, lives off the private sector. Its a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship to the extent that it provides for keeping the peace, and providing a few important, public (non-rivalrous and non-excludable) goods. Its a parasitical relationship once governments grow to the size that they are now.
