Was speaking with an Indonesian banker over the past week here in Jakarta..

I must say I was astounded when he informed me that Indonesia's bank reserves are apparently 5X that of Thailand.

That, combined with 6.5% economic growth and growing crackdowns on corruption give me hope for this country.

I've also been hanging out with a number of "bule" pilots who fly for various airlines here. It would seem that the government is finding a number of Indonesian pilots have been testing "Hot" for various drugs, primarily Meth.

Haven't been any foreign pilots caught using, just Indonesian pilots. One fellow I know believes that the recent discovery of 36 Lion Air pilots (all Indonesian) testing positive for drugs may be an internal play to disrupt their ability to purchase some 300 Boeing aircraft (pressure from Airbus).

On an aside, they also informed me that the Quantas just grounded an Airbus 380 due to the discovery of 36 cracks in one of their planes.

This is scary stuff for Airbus.. Shades of the Comet.. hope they get it straightened out before there is a catastrophic incident.

Flying to Malaysia tomorrow to explore around that country for a few weeks or so.. Then maybe back to Thailand..
