There were many who were espousing the path of pacifism back 2,000 yrs ago in Israel among the Jews , who knows how many crucifixations the Romans performed but some estimates of 10,000 with 500 at least bearing the name of "Jeshua/Jesus " with one reportedly leading a pacifist movement up over in Galilea . Here you have not any need for divine explanation but that dawning on people to try other ways besides fighting , plotting & murder . Like today there were the doves & hawks no difference .

The burden of defying the great power of Ceasar was beginning to wear people down & endless war so a trend developed to reinterpret the scriptures emphasising a new succession to tolerance & self sacrifice & stoicism which was not to take hold fully but certainly sensible from a survival standpoint , since continuing struggles with the overlord surely led to destruction , and so it did .

Is it some "___" that overseeing all this chaos & destruction and yet some wisdom seeping thru thats divinely derived or just men coming to their sense after 5centuries of great philisophical & political debates concerning all the great issues we still face today .

You see over in Rome the same time the so called "Christ" arriving the voice of Seneca the Younger which even the early Catholic theologians laying praise upon and because he says almost every same thing that's attributed to jesus at the same time . Nothing the Nazerene said was original at all , in fact Jesus is a poor representation of all that wisdom being taught even from before and concurrent to that time . But all this wisdom goes back & developes over centruies to Hesoid & Homer.

From Seneca the Younger
(Roman Stoic Philosopher 4BC to 65AD)

All art is an imitation of nature.

What fools we mortals be

He who receives a benefit with gratitude, repays the first instalment of it.

A good judge condemns wrongful acts, but does not hate them.

All cruelty springs from weakness A sword by itself does not slay; it is merely the weapon used by the slayer

If any one is angry with you, meet his anger by returning benefits for it: a quarrel which is only taken up on one side falls to the ground: it takes two men to fight.

The cause of anger is the belief that we are injured; this belief, therefore, should not be lightly entertained. We ought not to fly into a rage even when the injury appears to be open and distinct: for some false things bear the semblance of truth. We should always allow some time to elapse, for time discloses the truth.

If you are wise, mingle these two elements: do not hope without despair, or despair without hope.

It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.

Fire tries gold, misfortune tries brave men.

This is the worst trait of minds rendered arrogant by prosperity, they hate those whom they have injured.

A great step towards independence is a good-humored stomach, one that is willing to endure rough treatment.

For love of bustle is not industry – it is only the restlessness of a hunted mind.

Do not ask for what you will wish you had not got.
Withdraw into yourself, as far as you can. Associate with those who will make a better man of you. Welcome those whom you yourself can improve. The process is mutual; for men learn while they teach.

Be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favours you have received.

If virtue precede us every step will be safe.

It is a denial of justice not to stretch out a helping hand to the fallen; that is the common right of humanity.

It is a great thing to know the season for speech and the season for silence.

I do not distinguish by the eye, but by the mind, which is the proper judge.

Consult your friend on all things, especially on those which respect yourself. His counsel may then be useful where your own self-love might impair your judgment.

Dangerous is wrath concealed. Hatred proclaimed doth lose its chance of wreaking vengeance.
Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.

The "God of Spinoza" was the closest Einstein would ever come to religion. And the god of Spinoza was simply what is. The god of spinoza had no son and no "hind parts" or fingers, or nostrils.
