My operating assumption is that whatever we need to live on in retirement, should we ever retire, and what we must send the kids to school by, etc etc must be mineralized so that the solidified savings might survive the journey across the darkest interregnum and arrive at point of destination known as teotwawki dawn

Am pretty sure gold would survive the journey w/ purchasing power intact, and once across, platinum might do better, and before arrival, silver may do several multiple.

It is a working theory.
