let's not disregard the Moslems

Up until the 19th century Jews were generally treated better under Islamic regimes than under Christian rule.

As for the gospel of Matthew, the identity of the author is not known. In Luke and John, the anti-semitism is just as strong. An earlier writer, Paul was also against Jews. (1 Thessalonians 2:14-15)

Of course during the time Jesus preached there was no anti-semitism as Jesus preached only to Jews. The disciples were even expressly instructed to stay away from Gentiles or Samaritans. (Matthew 10:5)
