Hello everyone.

I only recently joined SI but have been reading posts for quite some time. I have learned more from browsing SI than from any other source and feel I owe alot of my success to the intelligent postings that can be found here.

I have a question perhaps someone here could help me with. What exactly is considered to be "insider information" ? and what needs to happen to be "doing something illegal"? For example, If a neighbor who happens to work for BAY, informs one of my family members (living in San Diego) about the short term direction of BAY's price as reported by the CEO is that insider info? or would it just be considered "rumor'? It is my understanding that such info from an employee is just "rumor" and poses no legal threat.

I had already bought BAY but have now increased my holdings. If I passed on what the employee said to SI would that be illegal, or at a minimum would I be accused of hyping?

thanks in advance...

Allen
