I am surprised that the member/specialist short position did not have a bearish tone just before July 1996 when we had a tech correction, in fact the short position was on the bullish side before that drop; however, the short position seems to have increased before the March drop this year.
The speculative bubble was alive in may 1996 or was the smart money not smart enough before that decline?
