No-- as they are looking to find the key essential unproven particle in the "standard model" of elemental physics---as you your quote reveals, they are looking for what they call the "God' Particle"(which is partially a "needlingF of Higgs, who is an atheist.) It is essential to explain energy particles bunching into mass/material, but the standard model demands that the at ultra high energy releasing collisions the Higgs Boson will show up as a newly witnessed line or lines at a mathematically predicted energy level. They started to build CERN for the singular purpose to find the Higgs Boson, and at that time Dark Matter was just a rumour so CERN was doesn't have capacity to study Dark matter, but only possibly demonstate it by having an action where there missing lines or lines But they still could find a proof of Dark Matter IF they got results that mathematically demanded certain lines but they weren't there. The Higgs Boson must be seen as new particle lines. That is why it would be exciting if they didn't find the Higgs Boson , it is the missing particle within elemental theory--if they don't find it, they are left with not knowing why elemental mass comes together. The thing is, Dark Matter does already have mass, but a mass utterly different than elemental mass. Finding Higgs Boson would NOT disprove Dark Matter, it would however reveal their theories regards elemental mass coming into being are right. But if missing lines could be shown are not there via mathematical prediction--it would show that possibly Dark Matter has an key influence on Our Elemental Mass. But as one scientist said, they get about a 1000 science papers a year where physicist are trying to explain Dark Matter, all is wide open to conjecture, because they know so little. The simplest way i can clumsily explain dark Matter, is if Earth was inside a gigantic mountain of Unknown Mass, it could not see it, or detect it. Constitutes 90% of the Mass of each Galaxy. [Aside:The colors we know is only because we have seen them, a person 100% blind can not picture any color. So as we could not picture a color if never seen.] O.K. the Unknown Matter is stained blue all known matter is stained red. As A and B Crash into each other at an incredible velocity one sees the Blue A pass through Blue B so you have Blue B where Blue A had been and BlueA where BlueB had been, as they have passed through each other with No Pain/No Strain, even though their total gravity majorly exceeds the Red Mass. As Blue A and Blue B pass through each other, The RedA and RedB clump into one mass of UTTER DESTRUCTION such say then that every single planet of the Red Mass is annihilated, pulverized , all becomes death. But the Blue that surrounds a planet and is even within a Red Planet, has zero destruction. This is why they are now conjecturing there may be in huge numbers Galaxies that are 100% Unknown Matter and thus not detectable--what are these invisble worlds???? The great physicist Richard Feynman said Science is like putting your imagination into a straight jacket as you must somehow prove, give evidence for your imaginings but Voila a Cosmological Physicist in a Scientific American Article has offered some evidence to base a hypothesis that we are wrong to think this vast UNKNOWN INVISIBLE is inert--but has VITALITY, that he has gotten computer created images that demonstrate the Unknown Matter have a web of highways throughout the Universe, one massive unified COBWEB(edit:10/21/2011, see next photo for this:Bill/Max)----stimulating to the grey cells are brain, no?:) Max
