I don't think Lincoln would have lost a vote of confidence at that time (although I could see it happening later), also would you have wanted him to lose?

I really doubt FDR would have lost such a vote.

Great analysis Jim. You made some great points, for sure, and given me cause to reconsider some things. I always appreciate being guided back to the path! LOL

I have spent a lot of time in Africa and seen first hand what occurs when a 'president' decides his personal ambitions are being hampered by a 'constitution'. I've also seen the results of a strong president following a constitution, stepping down at the end of his constitutionally mandated term, and what happened when a new leader was elected. I want nothing to do with either extreme ever happening here in the USA.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll go back to the drawing board and consider them. I'm old, but I can still learn a new trick or two, if need be.
