Ahhh .. the history behind the ban on cannabis .. Respected people fabricated lies to convince congress to make it illegal. The AMA objected. The AMA rep said congress was about to deprive citizens of valuable medicine. Today the AMA is on record with their request to reschedule cannabis. Having it in schedule one is a major road block to valuable medical research. One doctor testified before congress that marijuana caused rats to grow extended canine teeth and wings. He was hired by the federal government after that valuable testimony. One example of the pile of horse bunky used to make it illegal. The Mexican American war was still fresh in the minds of the US population. The move to make it illegal used public sentiment, from that war, to taint public views on the herb. It was, and still is, a fabricated bogy man. Something people are taught to fear for no real reason.
