Not only that, Nixon had a national health care proposal that shames every Democrat after him. I think the Republican party is structured to make every past Republican president look better and better by making the latest ones worse and worse. Which leaves them in quite a difficult position post-W, lord help us if they succeed on that front.

Nixon and EPA:

I studied Nixon extensively in grad school. Well, MPA degree. I don't remember Nixon very well, too long ago, and certainly not in its proper context, but historian Henry Steele Commager did say Nixon was the largest threat to America since the civil war as he tried to undermine the constitution.

And I do not remember how the EPA came together, but I seem to recall Nixon put he EPA under the Dept of natural resources to render it impotent?
