Napolitano did not say affirmatively that spouses entering with their husbands were checked as possible terrorists.

This should be routine.

In the defense community of private contractors, an employee is checked and rechecked as are their spouses and families before the worker gets a security clearance.

In addition to data bases neighbors may be interviewed.
