Daily scoreboard
February 12, 2012 by Don Surber Final score: EVIL 12, GOOD 9.
1. From Gallup: President Obama’s 48%-46% advantage on job approval on Saturday became 45%-48% on Sunday.
Hey, his mandatory contraception plan is proving to be a prophylactic to a second term.
GOOD.
2. From the London Daily Mail:
Osama Bin Laden told his children to live peacefully in the West where they would get a good education, his brother-in-law has revealed. Zakaria al-Sadah, whose sister is the fifth wife of the Al-Qaeda leader, said Bin Laden did not want his children and grandchildren following in the same path of terrorism like him. ‘He told his own children and grandchildren, go to Europe and America and get a good education,’ according to an interview with Sadah in The Sunday Times.
Wasn’t that the advice his father gave him 40 years ago?
GOOD.
3. From John Hinderacker:
Last night Brian Ward and I taped the latest episode of the Hinderaker-Ward Experience, which will be available for download later in the day. One of our Loon of the Week candidates was Barbara Boxer, talking about the Obama administration’s decree that all employers, including religious institutions, must provide health insurance benefits that include contraception and certain abortion services, for free.
No, ma’am, that’s the right to be free, not the right to freeload.
EVIL.
4. From News Busters:
The downward slide of media credibility continues. A Pew survey released a few days ago found 67 percent of Americans see “a great deal” or “fair amount” of “political bias” in the news media, a record high for the poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press which pegged the level at 63 percent just four months ago.
This increase reflects the downside of Fox News is more news organizations are becoming more blatant about their liberalism.
But people are catching on.
GOOD.
5. From Politico:
Somehow, the Democrats just can’t seem to keep reproductive politics from hijacking the health care debate. They almost lost the health reform bill a couple of times over abortion, as anti-abortion Democrats came close to derailing the bill during the 2009 House debate and then again during the final passage in 2010. And now, the Obama administration’s contraception rule has provoked such a massive fight with the Catholic Church and Republicans that it has been impossible for Democrats — or the media — to talk about anything else.
Democrats talk about it so much because that is all the Democratic Party stands for any more: abortion and gay marriage.
They are anti-procreation.
[ For Democrats, children who aren't aborted are only good to provide jobs for teacher's union members. ]
GOOD.
6. From the Daily Caller:
Medical insurance premiums in the United States are on the rise, the chief architect of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul has told The Daily Caller. Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist Jonathan Gruber, who also devised former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s statewide health care reforms, is backtracking on an analysis he provided the White House in support of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, informing officials in three states that the price of insurance premiums will dramatically increase under the reforms.
Romneycare and Obamacare are not about saving money. They are about giving the government control over your medical care.

7. From the Associated Press:
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A [Republican] state senator and his wife said Saturday they were attacked and beaten at a Niagara Falls casino hotel after the lawmaker tried to break up an argument between two men, one of whom accused him of hating the Indian tribe that owned the resort. Sen. Mark Grisanti said he suffered bruised ribs in the Friday night altercation. His wife, Maria, was more seriously hurt. She was diagnosed Saturday morning with a concussion and possible broken nose.
President Obama immediately blamed Sarah Palin for the racist attack.
EVIL.
8. From Big Journalism:
Progressives are attempting to skewer Steven Crowder and Chris Loesch, claiming that they used the “N” word when saying the word “knickers” in a satirical video about the loss of American exceptionalism. At no time did the duo use the “N” word, and to prevent hyper-dramatic liberals from whipping out their dog whistles, they even point to their pants when they say “knickers” in the video. Gawker failed to post the original video where this is clear, instead seizing on an opportunity to defame Crowder and Loesch and attack Loesch’s wife, editor of this site.
Does anyone take lefty charges of racism against white conservatives serious anymore? I don”t care if lefties call me racist. Being called racist is like being called four-eyed.No one cares.

9. From Gateway Pundit:
While 49 other states have ratified Concealed Carry laws, Illinois is diligently working to track and punish their own citizens for exercising their Constitutional rights. If Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has his way, gun owners will not only be tracked in the same manner as sex offenders, but will be slapped with a repeating $65 fee…for each gun.
Guess paying $399,500 to the Second Amendment Foundation taught the mayor nothing.

10. From the Associated Press:
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A Charleston attorney is continuing a tradition of offering a free divorce as a Valentine’s Day gift to one unlucky-in-love couple. It’s the fifth year Charles “Rusty” Webb has held the contest.
Wonder if he’ll have a 2-for-1 sale for bigamists?
GOOD.
11. Whitney Houston died at 48.
Waste of a great talent.

12. From News Busters:
Epic Fail: Whitney Houston Dies, and Tony Bennett Calls for Drug Legalization
Yes, legalized drugs would have killed her quicker.

13. From Studio Briefing:
Nielsen said on Wednesday that the number of households that have dropped their satellite TV subscriptions and relied exclusively on broadband Internet access to watch TV had grown 22.8% over the last year… Another development was more or less the converse side of the issue. Said Nielsen: “Further underscoring the importance placed on broadband Internet, the number of homes subscribing to cable-plus and no broadband decreased 17.1% since last year.”
Sucks to be a cable company.
GOOD.
14. From Samuel L. Jackson:
“I voted for Barack because he was black. ‘Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them … That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama's] message didn’t mean [bleep] to me.”
Samuel L. Jackson is a bitter, resentful racist. Gee, that’s a surprise.
[ If he were a bitter resentful racist living in a ghetto it'd be one thing. But he's a bitter resentful racist multimillionaire movie star.
It's like Spike Lee. If you're a black American with a vacation home on Martha's Vineyard, STFU about how racist America is. ]

15. From CBS:
According to sources, a driver who was lost near the airport managed to drive right through a checkpoint, past a Philadelphia police officer in a patrol car, as well as two department of aviation employees. The driver, along with a passenger, sources say, drove hundreds of yards down Taxiway J, at one point they even got out of the car completely undetected. It was about 5 minutes before they were even spotted.
TSA officials were too busy feeling up grandmothers and children to be bothered. Al-Qaida noticed.

16. From Australia’s ABC News:
An Australian historian has uncovered hidden documents which reveal that African American troops used machine guns to attack their white officers in a siege on a US base in north Queensland in 1942. Information about the Townsville mutiny has never been released to the public. But the story began to come to light when James Cook University’s Ray Holyoak first began researching why US congressman Lyndon B. Johnson visited Townsville for three days back in 1942.
History never ends.

17.From KBOI:
Arthur Livingston, of Prosperity, S.C., may be alive, but his credit report says, “File not scored because subject is deceased.”
That’s because Livingston’s bank, Bank of America, has been reporting him as deceased to the three major credit agencies since May 2009, he claims. Bank of America has still not resolved the issue, even after media attention, causing headaches for Livingston, 39, and his family in South Carolina.
And they wonder why nobody like BofA.

18. From All Africa:
Residents of the southern Tunisian towns of Tataouine and Matmata, small desert cities that furnished the setting for Star Wars movies, woke up to an unusual sight today: snow. The snow started to fall overnight from Sunday to Monday, leaving a thin layer that was enough to transform the landscape from an arid desert to a glistening-white tundra. The Sahara desert, particularly the region of Remada and the neighboring area of El Borma in the governorate of Tataouine, also saw snow falling near the oil fields of El Borma. Oil fields workers were thrilled at the sight of snow, a rare sight for them in the region.
Is it just the Scorekeeper, or is the snow heading further south each winter? A little snow never hurt no one — well, except for the 500 people who died this winter in Europe.

19. Via Hot Air, Sarah Palin:
We’re not red and blue Americans; We’re red, white and blue. And, President Obama, We are through with you.
A Valentine to conservatives everywhere.
GOOD.
20. Mitt Romney won the straw poll at CPAC and the caucuses in Maine — which had a combined total of less than 10,000 votes.
The Republicans fight over the nomination is like fighting over who takes out the trash. No one seems to want the job.
GOOD.
21. From Reuters:
President Barack Obama will call for cutting the top 35% corporate tax rate as early as this month, according to two sources close to the administration.
He just announced he is seeking super PAC money, too. Coincidence, coincidence.
We’ll see what strings are attached.
GOOD.
