I posted the sales per country two weeks ago and it agrees with the report posted... Cpq does not leave it's currency management to amatuers that are working for the compnay. They contract out the job to pros in currency hedgeing. they also play it extremely safe. In other words in Japan they would lock in a small loss to gaurantee they have zero exposure. If you will check their 10k,10q's it will bear me out on this.. taking an extemely small loss to make sure they are covered. They aren't like what Dell did in 1993 or 94..gamble alittle and even get into deriatives that are so complex you can't compute how you stand without 10 crays clustered together<gg> Disclaimer: I post this information and other pieces of information purely in the spirit of SI. I can help on CPQ. I go to other threads where I don't have a close relationship and I benefit from those who do. I also know that in the 16 months of SI. It rubs a very very very few people wrong that I speak with authority on some subjects. Since MIS mgr's at cpq were involved in absolutely everything and so we were privy to allot of info. They reported to the CFO and the Sr VP's both....so, they were there when most the things happening now were decided. There are no other reasons here.... I beleive in sowing and reaping..I sow on this thread and I harvest on other threads. I sorry if my "I was there and this is what really happened ticks some off....But, I'm not one to let those not there write the history books" I also will challenge statements that would casue people to doubt their investment in CPQ and if they have facts then let's see them. If it's their opinion and they don't have facts, then okay.. say that..It's the USA and I beleive in free speech. So, I have a hunch or whatever is absolutley fine. But, to infer that you have this great big secret and you can't articulate it but cpq is sinking is just a deceptive scare tactic. And, some fell for it this last crash... I have the posts and emails to prove it. When I get the emails of I wish I had listen to me on this or that... it disappoints me, but, I do know that it's easy to be scared and the pros in the market game count on socking it to us when we bail out , then have to get back in 10 points higher. Regardless of my posts the last month good friends on SI were scared out of cpq and dell with "the no facts scare statements". Then they had to buy back in and lose 5 to 10 points plus that doesn't include 18 months of profit they still had that they are going to have to pay taxes on....what they send the IRS will hurt worse. Even if cpq falls back to 50.....you will be sorry 15 yrs from now if you tried to time this thing and bail out then try to get back in right. If you are extremely nervous then buy cheap puts every month for a while. I timed the crash of '87 and '90 almost perfect and sold "some of my cpq"...although it doesn't really hurt all that much becasue I kept allot that I couldn't sell..... you would have to say that the sales I made 10 and 7 yrs later were the biggest mistake I made in my 27 yrs of investing. So, especially during a time when everybody is nervous about cpq... I'm going to speak up and want facts when the general statements of cpq is going to crash come out... Heck when you think about it, cpq crashing means nothing..cpq has crashed 31 times since it went public december of '83. So, saying cpq is going to crash is like saying the sun will come up Sunday.. that isn't a real big prediction.... Those that just relaxed during 20 of those 31 crashes are probably millionares now. Good Luck
