Your point is well taken manymoose, because I think a large proportion of U.S. manufacturing output is now led by a few big ticket items such as airplane manufacturing, rather than spread out among more diverse industries as in the past.

To a cynic, I guess it also explains Obama's attitude toward Boeing.

i thought most furniture was made in china now. i was watching a cnbc show the other night on a long term u.s. based furniture firm. they could no longer compete with china and moved all product to china or just visits several times a year and buy furniture. one store i looked into for book cases and great prices ships direct from china on special orders.
