You are right on. Some majore carriers have rojected the grwoth of Frame Relay and ATM in 1997 is 40% and 300% respectively. Since Ascend is leading in the FR network, the CBX500 ATM Switch has enormously advantage. Many telco carriers and ISPs will purchase CBX500 to build/expand their core backbone configuration on top of Frame Relay. The advantage to have CBX500 over other venndor's ATM switch on top of mass(or mess) existing/leading B-STDX 9000 Frame Relay Switch is that you can use the same network management tool provided by Ascend to seanlessly monitor both CBX500 & B-STDX 8000/9000. This is a high-end sector. Many on this thread only concentrate on MAX TNT. ascend.com
