Ed, Don't forget Taiwan will be part of China also in the not too distant future, just like Hong Kong. And if you recall, most of the world supports 'one China policy' including the United States.Heck it was and is part of China to begin with and this of course corroborates my theory expounded earlier in my post.

Now about keeping two books-one for personal record and one for the tax man- is quite prevalent in many Asian countries making the available statistics very deceptive and inaccurate.

Ed - I get the feeling that the next thing you are going to tell us is that there are no capital gains taxes in Taiwan!!!
