It is going to get much worse before it gets better because until the markets force change - there will be no change. The crony capitalism and vote buying is the nature of Washington.

Yes and no. Clearly seniors have paid into SS money to keep those payments coming through the 2030's. That politicians have used that money to fight stupid wars is a their problem - not people entitled to that retirement fund.

Medicare is an other story since there is just not enough money. Medicare benefits need to be adjusted. But I haven't seen one idea out of republicans that address this in any meaningful way - except nibbling at the edges.
