They're selling the idea Republicans want to ban birth control, doesn't seem like a stretch to me.

I just think this would be a really really stupid thing for Bozobama to do. It is a smoking gun and he can be easily hammered with it. A better strategy would be to blame it on Iran or the turmoil in the mideast or the greed of the oil companies. Based on his SOTU address (I didn't watch), I think he is trying to mitigate the anticipated fallout of increased oil prices. I have no doubt that most conservative candidates for public office will be trying to use the energy issue...

It is inconceivable that the Republicans would advocate banning birth control and it is astonishing how many people are falling for this.

That is an easy idea to sell (even if it is not accurate) if we have a GOP candidate on tape talking about the evils of birth control. Any Republican candidate that veers off the financial/economy conversation to talk about abortion, birth control, or other "social" issues, is a reckless politician IMO and putting the 2012 election at risk -- because this is the wrong year to dilute the message with social issues.
