That's the untold story of what really killed Otis Redding. Not so funny, I guess. I'd seen him perform "Dock" in Monterey, as the last show at the Festival on the first night. I don't like soul music most of the time, but I liked that one. Then he made a bitchy little speech about how he'd written a song and some little girl got it to the studio before he recorded his own version and changed some of the wording. So he performs his own version of "Respect." It wasn't as good as Aretha's record. And when was the last time she was a little girl? I never bought any of his records, but I kind of liked the way he performed at a festival where the only black dudes were him and Jimi Hendrix. <G>
