Paul, the point I was trying to make is that the CB's can raise holy hell with the gold mining industry and thereby turn my gold mutual fund into a roll of toilet paper for years.

I am sure the price of gold will go back up "someday", but the thought of the CB's with 30% of all the gold ever mined hanging over every gold mine in the world is very threatening almost to the point of blackmail. The CB's have everything to gain and nothing to lose if the mines go bellyup.
