Paul Ryan lectures Tim Geithner about leadership
Posted by The Right Scoop on February 17th, 2012 in Politics | 56 Comments

This is an excellent clip of Paul Ryan taking it to Geithner over his horrible budget that will lead us to a debt crisis. Geithner’s point is that he gets the deficit down over the next few years or so, but then it shoots way back up due to unfunded liabilities (entitlement promises we can’t keep). And that is Ryan’s point, that leaders are supposed to fix problems instead of kicking the can down the road for future generations to deal with:

Also, Ryan was on Fox News this morning to discuss the above clip, and he says that Geithner simply doesn’t want to face up to the fact that his budget does nothing to improve our debt situation:

I don't think the problem was the VP candidate last time, BWDIK.

If a libertarian point of view gets a wider and more accurate hearing I believe it will attract a lot of people, maybe more than it will scare off members of the 'religious right', an umbrella under which I'm lumping all of the stiffer elements of the Republican party to keep it simple. Had the ideas already been fairly heard, Gary Johnson would have been a better public face, as Rand Paul may be some day.

The no one but Paul movement is a little scary. At this site Paul supporters are discussing a Romney/Paul ticket and most of them are turning their nose up at it. So an unknown number of Paul supporters can't be moved by either Paul's endorsement of another candidate or even him being on the ticket as VP. Too many of them in the wrong place could create a problem come election time and maybe even throw the election. I hope we don't have a situation reminiscent of Perot on our hands.
