" I believe Drs. could be required to post prices in plain English for the most common services they provide. just like McDonalds. We may even fund him an airplane ticket to India or Singapore for scheduled surgery as costs as generally less than half here." I like the airline ticket part. but the problem iwith your idea about surgery I think, would be non routine items are acute and consumer may not have time to shop. On the other hand the c's are not usually time sensitive. Remember what laser surgery cost when it first came out. If Docs could be encouraged to advertise price I think it would help. Not only do I object to the compulsory part I object to any govt. involvement except for the poor. However, I realize that is not going to happen, the best course is to at least get the best system we can. lj
