Swearing on the Bible doesn't amount to "a conservative culturally authoritarian government", and isn't required, and if it was required it wouldn't be affected by this controversy. As for the ten commandments, Roy Moore was removed from his position. Indeed. Those are examples of cultural change in what I consider to be the right direction, an extension of liberty. Very recent, I might add. Some who don't approve of the direction call that a war on religion. Emboldened, they would change it back, reducing current liberty. I won't contribute to that.
