None of us were around in 1870 or 1880, so we can't really know what we would have thought or done in those circumstances. A hundred years from now people will look back at our society and think how could they have been so barbarious. I don't know what issue of today's society, which seems reasonable to most of us, will be shocking to future generations, but it is certain that there will be some. Things change, people evolve. Get over it, you can't undo the past. >> Segregation did not end until 1964. It is easy for you to say get over it. Not so easy for AfricanAmericans who still have horrible memories of it. That is like telling the Jews to get over the holocaust. Very insensitive. And I won't bring up the horrible southern chain gangs that replaced slavery until the 1930,s where blacks were arrested for nothing and sold to plantation owners by the states. They were tortured and few survived.
