Glad I could pull you out from hiding. The thrust of my comments are aimed at Ravenal and Valentine. They don't need to hurt their own causes. They don't respond on this thread, so we don't know what they believe. So is Ravenal not saying that they are not increasing the commitment to infrastructure? They sure are leaving an unclear impression of their true intentions. That doesn't seem wise.

TCI is the driving force? Why are they going out of their way to deflect questions about failure to implement build-out? I live not far from silicon valley. The 407 number ATHM provides to beg TCI for service is a dud. You'd expect that in a community that is all hip to high tech and where I get lots of inquiries about service availabilty (they call me Mr. At Home), they'd be puttin' it in. I know, they got it going in Fremont and San Mat, but I want it now here. TCI is not the only company doing @Home as you know, but government doesn't let any other cable company in to compete. It's TCI or get lost. This is what government calls a "free" market. They do this to protect the public from the "greed and evil of the capitalist pigs". The only thing protected is inefficiency, lousy service, and prices that only ratchet up.

You tell me, do you want TCI to put money into doubling the number of channels offered? Do you call this innovation?I call it a looser strategy. There are far too amny loss leader channels as it is. And that is going to challenge an encroach of satellite? Oh come now.

Don't bother to refute Fortune. They may be editing the meat out, no question. But what they left is the stuff upon which investment decisions are being made, including selling TCI, especially now that I know that the ATHM shares are at TCIVA. What does TCI have now except a government mandated monopoly? Now please try to explain why I don't live under a cable monopoly and don't understand why fairness and fixes and protection is equivalent to free market. You've got the universities on your side...

By the way a falsity also imples truths.
