The whole issue is so complicated it helps to have more than one person working on this, so I appreciate you and gold jumping in like you have. You notice the FEC also fined Progress for America Voter Fund and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

It appears a lot of non-profits were involved and some crossed the line. They were all formed as a result of the stupid Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 aka McCain/Feingold. I'm grateful it was overturned by the SC.

The FEC had already fined a number of the other major 527s for illegal spending during the 2004 elections, including the Democratic-leaning groups MoveOn.org and the George Soros-backed America Coming Together, as well as the Republican-supporting groups Progress for America Voter Fund and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
